Born To Shop.
Seriously. I come from a family full of women who not only love to shop but are devoted and talented shoppers. It runs through my veins. I never get tired of it. I do it in the morning, I do it on my lunch break, I do it in the evening and I do it before bed. No, no, no not every single day. Eh, most days, however? Yes. For fashion lovers, online shopping is one of the greatest gifts of modern technology. I mean let's think about it... Is it really convenient to set aside a hours of your precious time during the week to go to an oversized and overcrowded mall? NOPE. I'm not box-store bashing here, I'm just pointing out how much of a hassle it can be to go shopping in an environment that isn't always as glamorous as you'd like it to be. I want to look for shoes and sales without being harassed to try the newest hair straightener or body lotion from a kiosk in the middle of the mall. On that very same note, maybe I want to look for shoes but maybe I also want to look for something totally unrelated like area rugs or nice watches? Chances are, I would need to get in my car and drive to a totally separate store to find exactly what I wanted. This is a perfectly fine option for those who have endless time on any given day of the week (can I borrow some?!) but alas, we are not all so fortunate. Luckily for you, I pride myself on my online shopping abilities and I find that practice does indeed make perfect. I like to find sites that offer a multitude of popular brands all compiled into a beautiful array of happiness waiting to be purchased. Here are some of my go-to sites that I know you will LOVE:
1. The Real Real What a lifesaver. My love for The Real Real is absolutely relentless. I find myself deep within this fabulous website several times each week. The sales are TOO good to miss. If you want to find the highest quality items in luxury consignment, look no further than The Real Real. I scored a pair of Kenzo loafers that had never been worn and a Fendi scarf all in one order. I won't tell you exactly how much they cost, only because I don't want to make you jealous. Instead, go check out their current sales and don't forget to browse the tabs to personalize your search. P.S. - they even sell artwork.
2. Keep Download the keep.com app on your phone to make the metro ride, the treadmill run, and the walk to class seem like an absolute breeze. This is the voice of experience here, people. After I heard keep Communications Director Dria Murphy speak at Fashion PR Con in NYC in early Spring, I could not put my phone down. The layout of the website makes it so easy to search for absolutely anything your dollar-signed heart could possibly desire. Moreover, the site allows you to collect all of your wants (needs, lets be real) into customized wish lists that you can name according to piece, designer, season, or even destination. After all, it should feel like Christmas all year long. You're worth it.
3. The Outnet This is the place to go when you want cool, fresh designer pieces at a next-to-nothing price compared to original retail. I love this website because they have a consistent flow of new designers and they always offer collections that match what is trending. You don't have to search very hard to find something (or many things) that you want. If you're really into a certain designer, simply search for them on the site. Trust me, I totally get it. I'm always looking at my main man Karl Lagerfeld... Yes, his pieces are featured on this site! Go now!
4. Rent The Runway How many weddings or parties have you attended dressed in an annoyingly expensive outfit you didn't completely love? We've all been there. Buying an outfit for a big occasion can sometimes be like adopting a stray kitten. You love it when you see it and you know you need it but after you take possession of it you realize it's a pricey mess that needs a lot of attention. I'm not kidding guys. Nothing is more depressing than buyers remorse over something you didn't even want to buy. FRET NO MORE stray kitten adopters, Rent The Runway is your newest tool. I first discovered this site when I was begrudgingly searching for a Homecoming dress for my senior year of High School. I found a Badgley Mischka dress for about 60 dollars. The best part? I returned it the day after my Homecoming dance. I didn't have to lug it around in storage or have it stare at me from the back of my closet. It served its purpose. If you're looking for a killer outfit (accessories, too) but you don't want to keep it forever and always, this site is the place to go.
I'm always looking for new websites to fuel my online shopping addiction so please leave a comment with your go-to sites or shoot me an email at email@example.com to let me know what you think of my favorites listed above! Happy shopping!
